I realized that even though I have done a few posts on my inspirations and origin as a writer, I have not done a simple post on getting to know me. It seemed like a good way to start the new year, so here are a few things about me:
- I drink hot Chai yearound. 60-70% of my mornings include this wonderful beverage. The rest is a combination of homemade cold brew coffee and other black teas.
- I have two entirely black cats. When I’m not paying attention, this makes it difficult to identify them. Freya hates everyone except me and only wants head scritches. Fig wants to be held like a baby twentyfourseven. Therefore, confusing them occassionally brings pain.
- Other than writing, my hobbies include Magic the Gathering and single player video games like “The Last of Us,” “God of War,” and “Elden Ring.”
- To stay in shape, I alternate yoga and rowing. That might sound like a strange combination, but I find that both workout the entire body in different but effective ways. Since approaching thirty, my goal has focused on staying toned and flexible than powerlifting.
- My favorite color has always been red. It’s fun and carefree. Though as an adult it’s morphed into more of a burgandy, which compliments my skin tones.
- My music taste varies depending on my mood and project. However, I listen to most anything that isn’t bluegrass or screamo. I love my melodic metal (Amaranthe, Rave the Reqviem, Sleep Token) quite a lot, but if can dance to it, I’ll listen all day long.
- I know how to ballroom dance. I was part of a club in college. It was really fun and honestly really good exercise. My favorite dance is Nightclub Two Step, and I will fight anyone who thinks Tango is sexier.
- Fall is the most wonderful season. It brings sweater weather, Halloween, and eggnog. It also justifies staying inside and cuddling in blankets, which is all I want to do once the sun goes down.
- I collect sweaters, mugs, and nutcrackers. My sweater collection shines predominatly blue, burgandy, and black, with exceptions for almost every holiday. My stacks of mugs are cutsy finds and self-painted pottery. My army of nutcrackers fill more of my Christmas boxes every year since I’ve collected since childhood.
- I frame my yearly goals on my wall so I can physically see them and work towards them every day. These include the list of 10 writing and life goals that I made as a form of New Year’s resolutions.
They say you can tell a lot about a person based on whay they are willing to share. I do not know exactly what this list reveals about me, but I hope it paints a picture of well-balanced almost-30 year old who finally has a handle on life rather than an eclectic, anxiety-ridden child with imposter syndrome.
What else do you want to know about me?
