We made it to San Francisco! I meant to let you all know 2 weeks ago, but here it is.
As of now, we’re all moved in and most of our U-haul load of furniture, clothes, Ultimate Spiderman comics, and 4 dozen pairs of earings have new designated locations. We have yet to get our art on the walls, but the kitchen is assembled, and we are settling into a routine.
We painted our bedroom, which took about twice as long as expected because neither of us have been in charge of painting a space like that before. It is now a lovely sea foam green with white trim, which is far superior to the previous orange-tinted cream with yellow trim.
We got some help starting a garden too. It is a different format than I’ve tried before, but I’m excited. We’ve got all sorts of plants, including corn, peas, radishes, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, strawberries, pumpkin, and a few herbs.

The biggest hurdle has been the cats. We moved into a household with 2 older cats, so now it’s a 4 cat household, and training them to be nice to each other by feeding them bonito flakes has only been mildly successful. Of course it’s only been 2 weeks, but I want them to be friends already.
I have not been writing many new things, but I have been reviewing my short stories from my undergrad years. They have been kept in a box of thick manila folders for the past ten years waiting for a moment like this. So I’ve been patietly reading through them and organizing them into salvageable and no-one-should-ever-read-this piles to start my next set of projects.
I have also been editing a romantacy, which is now on its 5th draft and finally coming together into a complete story that I wouldn’t mind sharing with people. I will post more about that soon.
In the meantime, thank you all for patiently waiting for an update. Thank you to all of you who wished us well on our way. And thank you for your continued support here. I hope your July is cooling off because this heatwave has been a big one.
