The Waiting Game

Our due date was Friday, 23rd. Since this is our first child, we expected him to be late, and now we are simply waiting. My wife is quite tired of carrying our adorable parasite, but he seems pretty content to stay put at least for a few more days.

We had a cervical check and membrane sweep on Thursday, so the process has started, and he could technically arrive any day. However, he is yet to really drop, so we are going on a lot of long walks.

In the meantime, we are all packed for the hospital. Most of the stuff is in the car, along with the carseat. We have double-checked our lists and have copies of our birth plan in page protectors. We have been reading more about the first year, doing a lot of last-minute nesting and reorganizing, and sleeping restlessly.

If our son does not arrive soon, we plan to induce in the last days of the month with the hopes that he arrives on June 1st. My birthday is July 2nd, and my wife’s is August 3rd, so it would be pretty cute to have a matching set.

Additionally, with the help of my brother, I have started planning a tattoo to commemorate my son’s birth. Currently, we are imaging a cute chibi frog and taco, since our nickname for him while he has been cooking was “taco-frog”. I will share more when we have a final draft.

Until then, we wait.
