7 Holiday Highlights

7 of the best moments of this holiday season with my 7-month old.

  1. Attikis took directly to sleep training. Before mid-November, we were rocking him to sleep each night, but he had begun sleeping lighter and lighter, so it often took an hour to get him down for each nap and sleep. Thankfully after a single long night of sitting beside him and reassuring him into putting himself to sleep, he generally puts himself to sleep without us in the room after 5-15 minutes.
  2. He continues to expand his food interest, though it is still limited due to a lack of teeth. Currently avocado is the favorite. Who can blame him?
  3. On the 9th, he gave me his first kiss. I was putting him to bed for the night. We had gone through his bedtime routine, and I was preparing to put him down. I gave him a few kisses on the cheek and asked if he wanted to give me a kiss. I turned my cheek to him. He grabbed both sides of my face, opened his mouth and planted it right in the center of my cheek. It was so adorable, and he continued smiling as I put him down to sleep.
  4. We took some adorable photographs of the boy. (See below) First of him being the present. And a few weeks later surrounded by them during Christmas.
  5. During Christmas week, Attikis did truly remarkable on our 8 hour drive (10 hours with stops) to visit family. He slept as best he could and had the best of attitudes until the last hour, which is when I wanted to crash out too. He made up for it for being cute the rest of the time.
  6. My wife and I made a bet on whether he would be crawling by Christmas. The loser would cook an extra meal during the following week so the winner could cook one less. I said he would be crawling by the end of the 25th. Unfortunately for me, we are still waiting. I am sure it will be any day though.
  7. The night we returned from visiting family, Attikis started babbling. He started with a cute little whisper, repeating ‘nanananana’. It has become a sound he makes when bored, alongside his raspberry blowing. It might be the cutest thing to listen to yet.

So many things to be thankful for during my baby’s first Christmas. I cannot wait to scrapbook the pictures.
